4.2149How we built it
Ground from three bonded optical elements, this 18mm loupe gives jewelers and inspectors crisp 10x magnification across the entire field of view. We set the achromatic and aplanatic assembly into a sturdy black metal frame that folds shut for pocket carry. It provides flat, color-corrected optics for grading gems, checking prongs, and reading hallmarks.

What it does on the bench

Achromatic Triplet Lens
We assemble three bonded optical glass lenses to eliminate spherical aberration and color fringing. This creates a flat viewing field from center to edge, providing clear 10x magnification without image distortion.

Aplanatic Optical Correction
Our optical design corrects for spherical distortion across the entire 18mm viewing area. Inclusions in diamonds, fine watch movement components, and tiny metal stamps remain sharp without bending near the perimeter.

Protective Black Housing
We machine the folding frame from durable metal with a non-reflective black finish. The outer casing swings around the lens assembly to shield the glass from scratches when tucked into a pocket or toolkit.

Inspection Ready Balance
The teardrop frame sits comfortably between the fingers and rests steadily against the eye orbit. It offers the standard 10x working distance required for grading loose stones, inspecting settings, and sorting estate jewelry.
