How we built it

Scanning algorithms inside the unit evaluate thermal conductivity to distinguish diamonds from simulants like cubic zirconia and white sapphire. We integrated an illumination lamp to brighten the stone during testing, alongside UV output to check fluorescence. The compact housing runs on rechargeable NiMH cells, standard AAA alkaline batteries, or micro USB power.

What it does on the bench

Retractable Spring Probe

We fit a spring-loaded probe tip that maintains consistent contact pressure against the stone while protecting the delicate internal sensor from damage during repetitive testing cycles at the bench.

Integrated Illumination Array

A built-in LED illuminates the targeted gem during alignment, while the secondary UV light source lets you observe fluorescent reactions directly under the probe tip without reaching for a separate lamp.

Multi Simulant Separation

Our testing software scans conductivity profiles to separate natural and lab diamonds from cubic zirconia, moissanite, and low-conductivity white sapphire, delivering a straightforward readout on mounted or loose stones.

Flexible Power Architecture

Operate the tester tethered via a micro USB connection or run it cord-free using standard AAA cells or the included rechargeable NiMH batteries, protected by an automatic shutoff timer.
